Which Hearing Aid is Best for Me?

If it is determined you would benefit from hearing aids, your hearing professional will advise on what style is best suited to you. This will be based on the nature of your loss, lifestyle, budget, and personal colour preferences. Most hearing instruments can be customised to suit your personal requirements.

All hearing instruments include a microphone, an amplifier and a receiver all of which work together to capture, amplify and channel sound into the ear canal.

Some of the types of hearing instruments available include:

Completely-in-the-canal hearing instrument (CIC).

This hearing aid fits entirely into the ear canal

In-the-ear hearing instrument (ITE).

This hearing aid sits in the outer ear canal and may be more visible.

Behind-the-ear (BTE).

This hearing aid sits behind the ear and is available in a variety of sizes and colours.

Open fit micro BTE.

This hearing aid is small and discrete. It sits behind the ear and is usually fitted with a slim tube.

Invisible Open Technology (IOT)/Crossover

One of smallest hearing hearings aids, the IOT provides the cosmetic appeal of a CIC without the “blocked up” feeling traditionally associated with them.
